A project that is a true testament to our exceptional expertise in barn conversions. This exclusive Chingford development features seven meticulously crafted properties, nestled behind gated access and offering a unique connection to Epping Forest.
The site originally encompassed a substantial listed barn and independent storage units. Collaborating closely with our client and the local planning authority, we secured planning permission and listed building consent. This therefore allowed us to transform the existing barn into three distinct dwellings and demolish the other structures to pave the way for the construction of two pairs of semi-detached houses.
From conception to completion, MP Chartered Architects played a pivotal role in this project. Our responsibilities encompassed obtaining planning consents, generating precise building regulation drawings, formulating detailed specifications, conducting tender processes, and providing comprehensive project management throughout the construction phase.
Converting an agricultural structure into residential quarters invariably presents intricate challenges. In this instance, the barn’s status as a curtilage-listed building imposed strict limitations that precluded demolition. Furthermore, the barn’s location within a partly commercial site added another layer of complexity to the undertaking.
The pre-existing stable buildings were, regrettably, unsuitable for renovation. Yet, through unwavering dedication and expertise, we successfully navigated discussions and consultations with the conservation and historic Buildings Officer. Our commitment paid off as we secured approval to replace the existing stables with two detached chalet-style dwellings, ultimately crafting three distinctive homes on the original site.
The culmination of MP Chartered Architects endeavours has given rise to an exclusive, privately gated community, featuring seven impeccably designed dwellings. Each residence enjoys the luxury of a spacious, secluded garden and a private driveway equipped with ample additional parking.
