Overview

This project transformed a tired, dated property into a stylish contemporary family home designed for everyday life. Through a combination of a side extension, internal remodelling, and a complete exterior refresh, the house was reimagined to better suit the owner’s needs, while creating a more inviting and practical living environment.

The Challenge

While the property had plenty of potential, its layout no longer worked for the way the owners wanted to live. The internal spaces felt restrictive, the main living areas lacked flexibility, and the exterior appearance felt outdated. The goal was to create a home that felt more spacious, connected, and full of natural light, while also improving its overall character and kerb appeal.

Our Approach

To maximise the home’s potential, we designed a side extension that allowed us to square off the existing footprint. This created space for a larger, more welcoming entrance hall and a separate snug/library – ideal for relaxing, reading, or simply enjoying a quieter corner of the home.

Inside, we reconfigured the layout to create a larger kitchen to make family life and entertaining a lot easier. A new cloakroom and WC were also introduced to the ground floor for convenience.

Exterior Transformation

The exterior of the home was completely redesigned to give it a fresh, contemporary identity. A carefully considered mix of render, zinc, slate, and large glazed openings replaced the existing materials, creating a clean and modern aesthetic.

As well as transforming the appearance of the property, the extensive glazing allows natural light to flood the interior, making the living spaces feel brighter, more open, and more connected to the outdoors.

The Outcome

The finished home is almost unrecognisable from the original property. The redesign has transformed not only how the house looks, but also how it feels to live there.

With more space, better natural light, and a re-worked layout, the home now offers the perfect balance of style and practicality.

This project shows how the right alterations can completely change the way a home looks, feels, and functions, allowing the owners to stay in a location they love while enjoying a home that better meets their needs.
