New House in Brentwood

Project Specifics

New Housing

We were introduced to this project whilst doing an extension to the existing house on this site. We noticed that there were barns on the site, that we thought could be converted or demolished to create a new house. The client asked us to design a one-off house to fit in with the landscape. The plot had a natural slope to it, therefore the house had to be stepped. The bedrooms were put in at the basement level and towards the front of the plot, whilst the kitchen and living areas were positioned at the higher level to make the best views of the surrounding fields.

The building was proposed to be clad in barn-style materials so that it would stand out, whilst also fitting in with the area. The roof and the majority of the walls would be clad in zinc, with some timber cladding positioned around the property. The windows would be grey aluminium to match the zinc.

The scheme was sent to the council and approved the first time around. We are awaiting confirmation for the next stage, and we look forward to seeing the completed product.
