Listed Building Garage Conversion
Project Specifics
This was a large three bay garage next to a Listed Building. The client wanted an area to use as an indoor swimming pool. Working with the client and listed building officers, we were able to come up with a scheme that didn’t affect the listed building but complimented it.
The proposal was to extend the garage to the rear and convert the garage into a pool room with changing and seating areas, and a study on the first floor. One part of the garage remained, and this is still used for storage. We decided to keep the external garage doors to give the appearance of a garage from the front, however from the rear it looks completely different. Lots of glass sliding doors and roof lights were installed to make this place feel as open as possible. The ceiling was vaulted and the beams supporting the roof were encased in oak to hide the steel.
