3-Story Homes with Classical Touch

Project Specifics

New Housing

These three new houses and a house conversion which M P Architects LLP designed and obtained planning permission as well as producing construction drawings for Building Control approvals in 2011/12 for one of our developer clients: Higgins Homes PLC.

The proposal was for 3 detached houses and the conversion of the existing coach house, to replace the existing dwelling.  As the coach house was until recently being used as a separate dwelling this provides a net increase of 3 dwellings on the site.

M P Architects LLP submitted the first planning application for this site; however, the Council did not support the initial application, but M P Architects LLP successfully addressed the comments from the Council in the revised design, following delivering a positive speech to the Planning Committee on behalf of our client to answer the concerns raised by the neighbours.

The new houses are designed to be a classical style with rooms within the roof, but with restricted height to fit into the street scene of the existing properties.  This house in the photo features a very well-presented open-plan living area, with a separate dining area. It also features a custom-made spiral staircase, which goes up all three floors.

All the new houses on-site have been designed around the existing retained trees, as the majority have Tree Protection Orders on them, ensuring a well-landscaped site.  Patio areas have been designed away from trees to ensure that they are not shaded by the trees.

As a result, M P Architects has created a range of beautiful classical-style new homes in Chigwell for modern living, which added great value to the site and surrounding area.  We are pleased they were sold easily on the open market.
